dorais a’ phailteis a’ fosgladh,

is aran-milis air bòrd.

Gu h-àrd, àrd air an talla
tha solas uaine,
’s tha Sìthichean Ghlaschu
dripeil le peann is pàipear
a’ tomhais luach nam vòtaichean
a chuireas air ais dhan a’ bhruighean iad.

 

 

Green and red and yellow,
purple and white and blue,
Christmas stars in St. George’s Square,
all sorts of windows,
the door of plenty opening,
a key being proffered,
cream in the churn
and cakes on the table.

High, high on the Chambers
there is a green light,
and the Glasgow Fairies
are busy with pen and paper
weighing the price of the votes
that will return them to the Fairy Mansion.
